PRIVATE DETECTIVE McGOVINDA
Outline

The make-up of this wonderful 21st century program comprises the following characters working from a London based Detective Agency:

McGovinda is a Private Detective and he looks the part. Well...when you see him in action you soon realise why. Imagine your very own Asian 'Delboy'. He is in his mid-thirties, of Indian origin and speaks with a strong cockney accent. Always dressed in a dark suit McGovinda's veneer is as tough as thin ice. Whatever the situation there is always an air of confidence in the PI's tone.

Caprice is McGovinda's secretary and also performs the role of Office Manager. Caprice's over-zealous character means she has acquired the knack for qualifying customers before her 'Boss' gets the chance to assess the seriousness of the leads when potential clients call the office. The business is 'just' ticking over so nobody complains, till now!

And who can forget Bodrul, McGovinda's right hand/deputy/wannabe. Bodrul is the youngest. An Indian boy in his twenties, McGovinda's apprentice straight from Mumbai. He's got a strong Indian accent. He often changes his accent to posh, Scottish, Irish, Cockney etc., depending on the mood and company he happens to be in. Hailing from affluent parents it's no wonder Bodrul's attitude is very laid back. Which is probably what greatly assists his boss when a moment of inspiration is required for problem solving.

Together the trio is stupendously hilarious. They don't try to be. But the circumstances they find themselves in make for funny situations to arise. The one-liners are abstract but relevant to the scene. The pilot episode typifies the off-beat characters which adorn subsequent episodes of "Private Detective McGovinda". Take for instance Pushpa, the first client audiences get to see, entering the offices with a new case for the team. They routinely 'look' busy and create a buzz in the atmosphere as the PI escorts Pushpa into his inner office. As McGovinda's two staff members wait eagerly for news of their new assignment their boss emerges to say "She wants me to be her boyfriend!!"

Well, that's just the beginning ...

Each new client provides every episode with a different storyline. The equipment used is real. Gadgets comprise covert audio/video surveillance equipment and user-friendly (?) counter surveillance equipment for the detection of cameras, bugs and wiretaps. The human element provides the organic balance needed to maintain high interest levels from both audiences as well as caste members. Watch this space...
